This problem arises from the cloth dust collection bags on most machines. These bags fill up quickly, leak and release fine particles into the air. Further dust escapes during the frequent empting of these bags.

At Bestwood, we have retro fit our machines with the Oneida Dust Containment System. This amazing system employs a cyclonic vacuum chamber topped with a HEPA filter - removing all particles down to less than a micron. As a result, no airborne dust is released into the working or surrounding areas. The cyclone is attached to a vacuum hose (collecting dust more efficiently at the source), and runs to a 35 gallon fireproof metal container – here is where all the dust ends up.

Emptying the system is a snap. Since all the dust has traveled to the 35 gallon container, we simply tie off the heavy duty plastic liner and haul it away. It’s efficient, quick and there is never a need to handle any of the dust.

Besides directly addressing site cleanliness, most importantly this system protects the health of our customers and employees. No masks are needed and removal of older paints and varnishes (which may contain lead), can now be accomplished with safety and ease.
